Acoma Pueblo Inspired Fashion Brand ‘ACONAV’ Looks to Become Designer of the Year

Phoenix, AZ (July 5, 2016) – For the first time in Phoenix Fashion Week’s history, Native American fashion is being introduced to round out this year’s class of emerging designers. Loren Aragon will be one of two Native American fashion designers to launch his brand ACONAV in the acclaimed Designer Boot Camp.

Aragon is from the Acoma Pueblo of New Mexico, working and residing in Arizona. He is a graduate of the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering from Arizona State University with an extensive art background that spans his cultural pottery art, contemporary art, and jewelry. Fashion is currently the focus for Aragon as he works to launch the ACONAV brand with designs that fuse artistic vision and technological study. ACONAV gained recognition over the past 3 years in the Native American fashion scene, with designs that embody cultural art and traditional dress elements as highlights to modern couture fashion.

Phoenix Fashion Week recently introduced ACONAV at its annual Launch Party which took place June 9, 2016 at the LiveWire in Scottsdale, AZ. ACONAV debuted a selected look along with 12 other fashion brands as a preview of what to expect on the main runway in October at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. “The Phoenix Fashion Week ‘Designer Boot Camp’ is proud to have local Phoenix brand ACONAV among our curated 2016 lineup. I am impressed with Loren’s attention to detail, high quality design and strong work ethic, ensuring success for this brand,” said Brain Hill, Executive Director of Phoenix Fashion Week. In the next four months, ACONAV will embark on a venture to learn at rapid pace, the ‘Business of Fashion’. Seminars, challenges, and other fashion events hosted by Phoenix Fashion Week staff and its associates will provide the emerging designers a chance to grow and establish their brands in a competitive fashion industry. ACONAV is in contention for the ‘Designer of the Year’ title which will award a $10,000 prize package that includes goods and services intended to help the designer launch their brand.
